PADI BASIC DIVE COURSES

WHY TAKE A

DIVE

COURSE?

Divers carry the most respected and sought after scuba credentials in the world.

No matter where you choose to dive, your certification will be recognized and accepted.

In fact, on most scuba diving adventures you’ll be surrounded by other divers who made the same certification choice you did – to train with the world’s largest and most respected scuba diving training organization,

To serve the needs of divers worldwide, translations of materials are available in over 28 languages.

WHY STUDY IN

THE BAY ISLANDS,

HONDURAS?

Islas de las Bahia (the Bay Islands) are part of the 2nd largest reef in the world, the Meso American Barrier Reef, and feature vibrant corals, multi-colored tropical fish, sponges as big as refrigerators and pelagics such as manta rays, sea turtles and whale sharks.

The Bay Islands are actually the mountaintops of an underwater mountain range called the Bonacca Ridge.

Divers enjoy warm tropical waters year-round, warm and friendly people, and great visibility!  The primary languages are English and Spanish which makes getting around a breeze!

OPEN WATER

The traditional Open Water course recognized in every country of the world.

Your passport to discovering the underwater world is the Open Water Certification, recognized globally.  The course is divided into 3 sections: theory development, skill practice in shallow water, and 4 open water dives.  The theory section consists of 5 chapters, 5 videos and 5 knowledge reviews to discuss with your instructor, followed by 4 quizzes and 1 final exam to test your understanding.  The video also provides a preview of the skills to be performed in confined water right off of the dock.

The instructor will introduce you to all of the equipment needed for the dives, as well as demonstrate the skills.  As we keep our groups very small, we will work at your pace to make sure you master everything before proceeding to the open water dives.  These are conducted over the course of 2 days at the best sites around Utila.  For the first two dives, maximum depth will be 12m / 40ft, followed by 18m / 60ft on the final day of the course.  Due to our small class sizes, each dive will consist of a few practice skills followed by an exploration of the site, observing and learning about fish, creatures and corals.

15 years old (Open Water Diver)

Duration

Open Water Diver 3-4 days
Open Water Diver with e-Learning completed at home 3 days
